The Master's lodging was a grand and slightly gloomy house in Jordan College that was home to the Master of Jordan College. It opened into the Yaxley Quadrangle and backed onto the Library Garden. The drawing room was a large room that overlooked the gardens. It held heavy pictures on the walls opposite the windows, and had a silver collection. It was a place where the Master would entertain guests, and it is where the young Lyra Silvertongue first met Marisa Coulter. The study is where the Master would occasionally have a glass of brantwijn with his old ally the Librarian, Charles.
