Sanjurjo is a city on Mars, founded on the direct orders of Francisco Franco. The original colony ship was sent in 1947, carrying colonists from Asturias. The city was named for Jose Sanjurjo, a leader of the fascists during the Spanish Civil War. As one of the first colonies on Mars, Sanjurjo became a major spaceport for transit to Jupiter and the other gas giants, and a major place for Portuguese troops on Deimos to go on leave. So many Portuguese troops went to Sanjurjo that the Portuguese Ministry of Space banned travel to Sanjurjo. Discontent with the act led to the Deimos Mutiny of 1959.
