Progressive Change for Washington (PCFW) is a non-partisan group of progressive activists who are trying to determine ways to create change from outside of the existing political parties. The idea came out of the 2004 Democratic Presidential Primaries, when Senator John Kerry won instead of "true" progressives like Dennis Kucinich or Howard Dean. PCFW and the Progressive Democratic Caucuses of Washington (PDCW) were formed at the same time with two different purposes. While PDCW planned to work within the Democratic Party to strengthen the progressive message, PCFW was designed to be an outreach group trying to find and network with progressives outside of the political parties.
