Philip Corbishley was a local politician in the Wimbledon area. He was an alderman on Wimbledon Borough Council, serving two consecutive terms as Mayor of Wimbledon in 1960-62. The Borough of Wimbledon was absorbed into the larger London Borough of Merton in 1965, and Corbishley was elected to the new council. He served as Mayor of Merton in 1969-70.
