KEC is nonpartisan. Its more than 1,000 members include people who are religious and secular as well as heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, and transgendered. They come from all social backgrounds and from all parts of the state. Created on October 9, 2005, during a meeting in Emporia, Kansas, KEC is the largest organization in Kansas dedicated to ending discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
