Monster Hunter: Frontier G was initially announced in September 2012 as a major update to Monster Hunter Frontier for the PC and Xbox 360. It was later announced that it would be released as a standalone game for the PlayStation 3 and Wii U around the end of 2013. Capcom also initially stated that it had no plans to bring the Monster Hunter franchise to the PlayStation Vita, but during Tokyo Game Show 2013, they officially announced that Monster Hunter: Frontier G would be released for the PlayStation Vita. The theme song for the game is sung by Maaya Sakamoto.
