[Source] The Animal Restraining Bolt was an improvised equivalent to a droid restraining bolt to control animals and get them to behave as the rider wishes. The device was constructed by removing the Ion Pulse Generator elements and replacing them with a self-filling auto-hypodermic such as a MedCo Auto-6 Hypodermic Sleeve. The hypo was then filled with a pleasure-causing drug such as Pleezer or A Vrassa, and was released into the animal on command, akin to giving it a treat for good behavior.
