The Republic of Badakhshan (Persian: بدخشان, Tajik: Бадахшон) is a nation located in northern Afghanistan. The area was controlled by non-Taliban forces who declared independence in 2009 after the Taliban recaptured the city of Kabul. The area has access to large amounts of American technology that was left there after American troops left Afghanistan in 2008.
