Colin Neidermeyer first made his appearance at OtherSpace during Arc VIII: No Place Like Home. He was a top-ranking military commander in the Guardian Fleet in the year 3000, serving primarily on the starbase Retribution and the attack vessel Falstaff. An unapologetically vulgar xenophobe, Neidermeyer executed disobedient personnel and aliens of questionable character. He also often made his soldiers punish themselves for failure. For example, he made one officer break his own fingers for failing to thwart a Lunite attack.
