Karin Orlov was a Human woman and a member of Starfleet in the 24th century. She served aboard the USS Starbound circa 2359, on a training cruise for Starfleet Academy graduates. After the ship was attacked and crippled by Orion pirates, Orlov worked with Brian Hayakawa to construct a radio distress signal to contact Starbase 18, though it wasn't expected to reach its destination for some months.
