Mr. McNulty is an employee of the Washington, D.C. "Bird Department," as shown in episode 1576 of Sesame Street. Birdwatcher and frequent caller Madeline phones him from Hooper's Store to report her latest aviary finding - Big Bird. She describes all the things he can do and puts him on to recite the alphabet. McNulty officially declares him an endangered species. As he hangs up, he finally processes what he's just heard and declares that he needs a vacation.
