Barrois began her television career working as a writer on The Jamie Foxx Show, writing a total of three episodes across its second and third seasons. She went on to become a co-producer of The PJs and was then hired as an executive story editor for Third Watch during its second season, co-writing two episodes of that season. She was later promoted to co-producer for the show's third season and wrote two further episodes for it in 2001. She was promoted again to producer for the fourth season, for which she wrote four episodes. Barrois returned as a producer for the show's fifth season and wrote two of its episodes.
