In the 30th Century, Sugyn was a villainous member of the inappropriately named 'Devil's Dozen' (there were only five members) under the leadership of the evil Prince Evillo of Tartarus, but he was banished to a limbo realm by Evillo for failing on a mission to capture a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes. Years later he was rescued by Tenzil Kem (Matter-Eater Lad) who also defeated Evillo and instated a council of his dead wives as rulers of the planet. Sugyn joined the heroic Tartarun Elite Defense Team and became a super-hero.
