The station was about twenty kilometers long in the second half of the 19th Century PD By 1904 PD, the station was over forty kilometers long. (HH3) The station was enlarged to seventy kilometers at the start of the First Havenite-Manticoran War. By the 1920s PD, it had reached a size of over 110 kilometers along its main axis. Almost 750,000 people lived and worked aboard the station in those days. Hephaestus housed the production lines and the fabrication centers for the Manticore Systems mining industry, as well as the main RMN shipyard and refit facilities. (HH1, SI2)
