Tenjiku Tokubei was a famous Japanese adventurer and writer in the 17th century. He traveled to India, China, Thailand and Vietnam, and after finally returning to Japan he wrote an essay of his adventures called "Tenjiku Tokai Monogatari" (天竺渡海物語, "Relations of sea travels to India").
