The United States presidential election of 1992 had three major candidates: Incumbent Vice President Laurance Rockefeller; Democratic New Jersey Senator Pierre S. du Pont IV, and Republican Florida Governor John W. Bush. Rockefeller won a plurality in the popular vote, and the largest margin in history. The election was also significant in the fact that Rockfeller had gained the highest number of Electoral College votes, a feat that has yet to be surpassed.
