Nation Song Contest 131 was hosted by Balearica Island for the first time after their second victory in NSC 130. Artyomka was finally able to debut in this edition, having waited on the Waiting List for several years (albeit with several withdrawals and returns in between), after Illumia announced their withdrawal and break from the contest. Viola Per Sempre earned their second victory in the competition's history this edition, with filous's 'Shaded In', featuring Jordan Léser.
