Monochrome or Greyscale images are composed of pixels of one range of values. For example, in 8-bit greyscale images, each pixel is represented by an integer from 0 to 255. This contrasts with color images which are typically composed of three color channels, Red, Green and Blue, each of which has an integer value between 0 and 255.
