Marcionites (founded circa 144) were extreme Pauline Christians. Their entire scripture consisted solely of Luke's Pauline Gospel and the Pauline Epistles. They were Gnostic, fiercely anti-torah and miso-Judaic. They believed the creator God of the Old Testament to be an evil entity, and that Jesus Christ was the Son of a higher God. More than any other early Christian group, they have left a lasting impression on the the development of Christianity away from Judaism.
