Haruno Shimada (24 December 1857 – 31 December 1969) was a Japanese supercentenarian who is currently unverified. At the time of her death aged 112 years, 7 days, she may have been the world's oldest person since the 4 May 1969 death of Marie Bernatkova. Western media erroneously reported her age at death as 116, but Japanese media stated she died aged 112. Her father lived to be 91 and her mother lived to be 88. At the time of her death she had 5 living children, 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 32 great-great-grandchildren. She was a resident of Miyagi prefecture.
