Clone Flight Squad 317, or often simply referred to as Squad 317, was one an experienced ARC-170 squadrons in the Open Circle Fleet. This unit was composed entirely of clone trooper pilots flying ARC-170 starfighters, and was led by Commander Davidson, who was secretly a member of the 353rd Legion. On orders from Delta-3530, Davidson and his Squad 317 were stationed to defend Eredenn from the CIS General Sev'rance Tann and her droid forces from invading Sarapin.
