Denis Laws (born "Frederick Goodwin") played Sam Hench, an evacuee from the Mark Brittain Warehouse fire on Coronation Street in October 1975. Under his usual credit of Dennis Lawes he also appeared in Club Night, Play for Today , I Didn't Know You Cared and the television play A Little Outing. Outside of these appearances he was, between the wars, a music hall comedian who made several appearance on BBC radio in the 1930s. His granddaughter is the crime novelist Elly Griffiths.
