Upon hearing a commotion outside of his school one day, the wise man ventured outside with his assistants to see that a young peasant boy had knocked out his strong "bouncer". Wanting to know what was going on, the boy explained his situation. Instead of executing the peasant for his insolence, the teacher took on the boy as a student, realising that it was not how you won a battle, only that you won at all.
