The planet was formerly named Sigma, and was the home of the N'Kren, a starfaring race that resembled spiders. The N'Kren had colonized the planet, but were driven to extinction when the Space Pirates invaded, using multiplied and cloned Sovas to ruin what had once been a beautiful planet. The Pirates renamed the planet Pyrodia and used it to replicate Norfair on Zebes. Ron Green came here in his search for the illegal weapons, defeating the Sova Queen and obtaining the Hell Cannon. He drove the Pirates off the planet and destroyed many of the Sovas.
