On October 26, 1985, Emmett Brown discovered that his alternate self had been committed several years earlier in this timeline. Doc disguised himself and traveled to the asylum where, posing as his counterpart's distant cousin, Mr. Von Braun, he bribed the asylum nurse to allow him to talk with his alternate self. He discovered that, at some point after being committed, his counterpart had been lobotomized.
