Gardner was originally cast as Rachel Defwydd in Delta and the Bannermen. However, she suffered an accident while practising riding a motor scooter for the story and injured her leg as a result, which meant she was unable to perform. However, she was still paid and, because she was still under contract, was offered the less strenuous voice-over part on Dragonfire.
