In the year 259 David Gargolyt led a platoon of 5,000 marines to Klondike Rift after reports of Gargoyle attacks on the area. Klondike Rift was a incredibly important gold mine for the Kingdom of Misthalin as around 70% of total gold production came from these mines. Initially unaware of the strength of the gargoyles, David Gargolyt's platoon was ambushed while passing through a cliff which resulted in the Battle of Klondike Rift. Due to the lack of decent preparation of the MMC they counted 4,600 casualties, including David Gargolyt himself. The remaining army was forced to retreat and Klondike Rift was lost.
