a voodoo doll was originally thought to be used by witches to hurt people, there was supposedly a connection between the voodoo doll and the person you wanted to hurt by putting a trace of that person onto the doll, such as hair or blood, you could use a pin and prick the doll in the legs and the person would feel the exact some thing, pain blood and all!
