Gary Dench is one of two heavies looking for Eli Dingle in October 2006, along with Nick Callow. When they arrive in the village, they buy Sam, Shadrach and Lisa Dingle a drink hoping to gain information on Eli. They later turn up at the Woolpack just as Eli's brother Marlon is closing up the pub and they beat him up, trashing the place as well and taking some money from the till. In order to settle the score with Nick and Gary, Eli raids the Post Office and takes money from the till. A short time later, he meets with Nick and Gary and hands over the cash. Eli sneakily hides the shot gun under their car, and he disappears into the bushes. As Nick and Gary are about to leave they notice the gun under the car and pull it out as the police swoop and arrest them.
