Rendûl was perhaps the best base for exploration of the interior of Anfalas, since it's sturdy walls provided an excellent defense against Daen attacks. A large portion of Gondor' s garrison in the region lived just outside of town and made frequent expeditions to collect tribute and keep the peace.
