The International Treaty for the Protection of Antiquities was an international legal agreement that set standards for the acquisition of archaeological artifacts. The United States of America was a signatory to the treaty. In 1936, after Indiana Jones tried to ask for more money to track down the Chachapoyan Fertility Idol stolen by René Emile Belloq, Marcus Brody assured him that his work conformed to the treaty, before mentioning that there were two Army Intelligence men at Marshall College to see Jones.
