The Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC) (previously the "Open GIS Consortium") is a non-profit industry consortium aimed at growing interoperability for technologies involving geospatial and location information. Originated in 1994, the OGC consists of more than 400 commercial, governmental, nonprofit and research organizations worldwide that collaborate to create open and extensible software applications programming interfaces for geographic information systems (GISs) and other mainstream technologies.
