The Abbot of the Black Monks had once been an ordinary Human who desired more than he would get through honourable means. Consequently, he joined the revived Cadre Infernal and would have provided the holy energy needed to consecrate five silver daggers for use in a dangerous Ritual of Summoning. Unfortunately, the summoned Wolf Demon possessed one of them, Count Varcolac, and began to transform the others into hideous abominations. The Abbot's new form was a true representation of his soul - being a gargantuan Maggot - whilst the other monks were changed into ghastly amalgamations of Human and insect.
