The 2016 Japan Tornado Outbreak was the costliest and deadliest in Japan history. Other records set by the outbreak include the first F5 ever recorded in the country, the deadliest tornado in the country, and also the costliest also in its history. 229 people were killed, nearly 1,000 injured, and $4.5 billion was done in damages by the outbreak. At least 21 tornadoes touched down over about 35 hours, leading to total mayhem where they struck, often without much warning.
