Patriarch of Videssos was the most important and prestigious ecclesiastical position in the Empire of Videssos. Candidates for the position were submitted by the Avtokrator, and a synod of religious authorities would choose the patriarch from the list. The patriarch's duties included officiating over coronation and wedding ceremonies for the empire's monarchs, such as the ceremonies for Krispos as well as the coronation ceremony for his infant son.
