Grey gems are gems which require a minimum level in the skill Grey Magic in order to use. This family of gems tends to focus mostly on damage prevention, in the form of resistance auras, magic shields and escape gems. Although grey direct damage gems do exist, they tend to cost relatively little. However, they also tend to do relatively small amounts of damage, and only Color Blind boosts their damage. Thus direct damage casters usually look to other colors for the purpose of inflicting damage on their opponents. The Magic Shops in every town sell level-specific non-epic grey gems. Most activated Grey gems cost mana to use. It is not uncommon for grey gems to cost energy, but it is usually much less significant than the mana cost.
