The Great Internet War was a secret war that took place during the 1990s, which was largely fought over the internet. Although there were many combatants, the two main antagonists were The Company and the U.B.P.E., two major secret crime organizations of the time, who were fighting for dominance of the internet itself. During this war, authorities as well as web-vigilantes got involved, trying to keep the net safe for users. Although the war was kept largely secret from the public, it was devastating for many companies, organizations, and government programs.
