Nanites are not truly a weapon. After all, Krypt believes herself to be the only life-form in space, so therefore what does she have to defend against? Krypt is a curious being, however, and often sends colonies of Nanites from one of her Krypt Pods to explore asteroids and other phenomenon she finds interesting. The Nanites latch onto the surface of the object in question and delve down into the composition. Consequently, this is quite damaging to ships.
