A liminant is a dualistic spirit that contains a spirit and a body in its being. These creatures, although common, straddle the line between physical and spiritual beings and there is much debate on whether they are first spirits or first bodies (animals). From the angle of birth, they are bodies formed in a mother which are indwelled with spirits, yet from the angle of death they bodies that expire and release spirits that continue, though they may sleep in mortals. During life, they live out the purposes of both, some taking from one side of ontology more than the other and no individual taking the same exact arrangement of purposes by design, though it could and does occur by coincidence.
