Cairngorm is an unusually intelligent nabassu gargoyle and the lord of Grimstone Keep. He keeps the local population of goblins and orcs in check with his host of gargoyles, and is "assisted" by a troop of the Daughters of Sora Kell's trolls that keep an eye on him as much as they assist him.
