Syd N'aanzi was an outlaw mechanic from the Sluis Van system. Like most members of his species, Syd was cool and methodical, and his skills as a mechanic and engineer were beyond reproach. He first met Jacen Wayland when the Corellian contracted him to assist him with making some modifications to his ship, the MidKnight Son. Wayland was incredibly pleased with the work, and began coming to N'aanzi with any and all work he needed done on his growing fleet of ships. During Grand Admiral Thrawn's attack on the Sluis Van shipyards in 9 ABY, N'aanzi's workshop was heavily damaged, and rather than replace his lost equipment, he accepted a permanent assignment with Wayland's privateer/smuggling group, Wayland's Wilders.
