Clement Attlee was a British politician who served as Prime Minister (1945 - 1955). In 1945 he led labour to an landslide election victory, and formed the first labour majority government. His government was considered one of the most radical in british political history, nationalising major industries, establishing the National Health Service and the National Housing Plan. Labour was re-elected in 1950, but with its majority halved. Attlee's second government was less radical than that of 1945-1950, and largely revolved around foreign affairs.
