He is a special monster due to a unique special ability: he is able to bury beneath the ground and sneak past characters, only materializing on the surface to attack. This would make him a formidable foe if there wasn't one vital disadvantage—his light radius betrays his position wherever he is even when dug in, so it is easy to prevent surprise attacks and attack him from range while he approaches beneath the surface. Apart from his special ability he is only slightly stronger than normal Horror Captains.
