Gallanach is a family-run estate that has been owned by the MacDougalls of Gallanach since 1641. It ancestry dates back to 1164 when the eldest son of King Somerled of the Hebrides, Dugall, founded the clan. Nowadays, the Estate runs a livestock farm, but also offers self-catering accommodation, which was the staff quarters of the mansion house. Charles Williamson MacDougall of Gallanach, is currently Cadet of Clan MacDougall.
