Sarond was a male Romulan who lived in the 24th century. By 2360 he had attained the rank of Commander of a Warbird and claimed that his ship had suffered from a navigational system failure which made them unaware that they had drifted into Federation space. His vessel engaged in combat with the Starfleet vessel USS Enterprise-D before communicating about the "mistake" to Captain Jean-Luc Picard and promising that the chief engineer had corrected the problem.
