Lindsay Mather was a friend of Tricia Hopkins who accompanied her when she came into Rovers for drink. Lindsay said that she wasn't in habit of carrying birth certificates round when Betty Turpin, on Annie Walker’s instructions, questioned their ages following their order of two Bacardi and Coke’s. Betty served the drinks and Lindsay watched as Ray Langton tried to chat up Tricia. The next day, Vera Hopkins marched her daughter back in there, this time wearing her school uniform and looking considerably younger, to berate Annie for serving under-age girls. Annie turned the argument round though, berating Vera in turn for giving Tricia enough money to be able to afford fashionable clothes and buy expensive drinks.
