The 2005 Budweiser Shootout was a Nextel Cup (now Sprint Cup) exhibition race for the 2004 pole winners run on February 12, 2005 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. Jimmie Johnson started 16th in the 21-car field, but led 16 laps and won his first career Shootout over Ryan Newman and teammate Jeff Gordon.
