The Wind blows from the Mountains of Dhoom through the Great Blight to the fortress-city of Fal Dara in Shienar. The trees have new growth, spring was late in coming. Point of view: Rand al'Thor Rand al'Thor and Lan Mandragoran are practicing sword fighting. The wind blows so strongly at Rand that he is unable to back away from a thrust by Lan. Lan's practice sword shatters and injures Rand. This is the first known instance of a Bubble of evil. Rand learns from Lan that his Heron-mark sword is power wrought, just like Lan's.
