The Splended Age Retirement Home is an assisted living facility in Los Angeles. On 1 January 2002, LAPD detective Harry Bosch investigated the death of a resident who had committed suicide. Later in the year, after retiring from the department, Bosch returned regularly to the Home for saxophone lessons with Quentin McKinzie.
