The 2001 Autolite / Fram 250 was a Busch Series event held at Richmond International Raceway on September 7, 2001. Jimmy Spencer won his third and final event of the year, holding off Matt Kenseth. Despite a poor 27th place effort, Kevin Harvick still held a 269-point championship lead on Jason Keller (13th). Early in the race, Greg Biffle spun Jay Sauter into the wall. Sauter later drove his repaired car onto the track, and when Biffle attempted to pass Sauter on the outside, Sauter spun Biffle and himself into the frontstretch wall. Biffle got out of his car first, ran to Sauter's car, and (after Sauter had taken his window net down) punched Sauter in the face while Sauter was still sitting in the car.
